I know, I know....your mom wants it. Which is cool, totally cool. Im not dissing the newspaper either....but engagement sessions, or e-sessions can be so much more than that! Lots of you don't know that an e-session can more than just a session to get a photo for the newspaper.

Let's look at e-sessions:

1. It's a great way to get to know your photographer. Lots of couples have not been in front of the camera together before. This will really help you get comfortable for your wedding day.

2. E-sessions are awesome for wall photos. Think of exactly what you would love to hang on your wall, and let's go shoot it. Do a theme? Maybe a theme about how you first met? Your first date location? Anything. You have lots of walls in your home, they don't have to be just for wedding photos!

3. Most photographers, including myself, include an engagement session for free with the booking of your wedding. Also, you don't have to book a photographer for your wedding just because you use them for an e-session. Its a portrait session!

4. Lets say you are having a hard time deciding between two photographers. Well, it should not cost all that much to have a session done by each. Feel each photographer out, get a feel for their work with you in it! Not just other people. Trust me, any great photographer these days wants you to book them for them, not just for the money. We take so much pride in our work, that we REALLY want you to want what we do.

5. E-sessions are so much different than the wedding, it can show a totally unique side of you as a couple, a couple not in a suit and gown. An e-session shows your look, your style.

6. Guest books, save the date cards, photos for your wedding website....all of these are great ideas that can stem from your e-sessions. Guest books can be created for your guests to sign at your wedding. Imagine a 20 page album filled with unique photos of you with space for your guests to sign...perfect keepsake.

There are more, these are just some of the points about e-sessions that most couples don't know.  I have had a few wedding clients regret not doing an e-session before the wedding, myself included! I hope some of my professional peers will add to this list.

Here is a shot of Nadine and Brad. I am shooting their wedding in September and I can't wait. We had a great time on their e-session and got some amazing stuff, and that is really what it is all about. Creating a lasting relationship with your photographer. I'm neck deep in family photo season right now, and so many of my past wedding clients come back to me each year for an updated family photo, that is the greatest compliment you can give your photographer!

Call the studio for our special e-session promotion for the summer months, you are missing out if you don't call...and it will be pretty awesome!

Check it out!

"The Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation is working on a new campaign in support of Kids Care at the Regional Hospital. We are so grateful to Scott McIntyre for taking photos of the faces for our new campaign--kids who have needed care at the Regional Hospital. When you support the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation, you are ensuring the Regional Hospital has the equipment and resources needed to keep children of all ages healthy. Whether they are being treated for broken bones, minor illnesses or serious diseases, like cancer, the Cape Breton Regional Hospital is the main care facility for babies and children. In fact, last year, more than 300 pre-mature and ill babies were treated in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, 961 babies were born in the Obstetrics Unit and more than 1,800 children stayed in the Pediatrics Unit."

Pretty cool stuff if you ask me! I love being part of things like this, in support of kids. This was really fun to shoot, the studio was packed solid with people.....the group photo was a laugh! haha

I remember back when my grandmother was alive, she LOVED lupins. Everytime we would drive near the North Sydney turn off she would talk about how much she loved them. I cant blame her really, it is just a massive sea of purple, it really does look pretty cool.

During Alyssa's recent viewing, we got to chatting about the lupins and decided we just had to go shoot there....we put her senior album on hold until we got some images from the lupins. Alyssa is a blast to shoot! I would never get tired of it.

This particular image is something I have wanted to do for a while, I have a few different ideas of what I actually want to use instead of lupins, but I tried this and I love it!

Had to get this one edited and up on the blog for Alyssa...hope you like it!

Just had to post a teaser for Charlotte & Bronson after this weekends wedding. I know its almost cliche now to say how fortunate we as photographers are to have the clients we do, but I cant stop thinking about how great it is to work with such awesome people. It really makes it that much better for me!

We found a few sweet locations for photos, and this was one of them...loved this image. Stay tuned for the offical blog post, because there are many more!

Thanks Charlotte & Bronson, you guys rock!
