Katie & Scott’s Rain-Soaked Elopement at South Harbour Beach
Some weddings go exactly to plan. Katie and Scott’s wasn’t one of them. Thankfully!
They eloped in the middle of a Cape Breton downpour, standing on South Harbour Beach, soaked head to toe. No shelter. Just two people who clearly couldn’t care less about the weather because all that mattered was each other.
The rain didn’t let up. Hair was plastered, clothes clung tightly, and every photo looks like it was taken during a mid-ocean swim. But somehow, none of that mattered. Katie and Scott laughed the entire time. Like they were the only two people on earth.
After the ceremony, still dripping, they headed straight to their favourite restaurant: the Chowder House in Neils Harbour. No reception. Just comfort food, ocean views, and the kind of vibe that felt completely, unmistakably them. A place they already loved, now tied to the most unforgettable day of their lives.
I get asked all the time: "What do we do if it rains on our wedding day?" My answer? This. You lean in. You embrace it. You can’t change it. Love doesn’t care about the forecast. And for the record, yes, I'm thankful my gear is waterproof, because I’m not standing under an umbrella either. I was saturated,
This wasn’t a wedding polished by perfection. It was raw, honest, and soaked in feeling. And honestly? That’s exactly what made it magic.
Thanks for trusting me guys!
